In September of 2009, Dimmick - who was being chased by police - crashed the vehicle he had been driving into the home of newlyweds in Kansas. Though he held them as hostages, they let him use their bed to rest. After he fell asleep, they escaped. Dimmick was consequently shot and arrested by police.
