On November 12, 2009, the Lakota nation filed a lawsuit against the U.S., Arizona, Ray and Ray’s Angel Valley Retreat Center owners, to have Ray and the site owners arrested and punished under the “1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie” between the United States and the Lakota Nation, following the deaths of two and maladies suffered by 18 at an event Ray held in a sweat lodge at this center on October 8, 2009. The tragedy remains under investigation.
